the chatsworth group started out in Singapore as three inter-related companies, each with a specific function, dedicated to working with global clients and personnel exclusively within the Petrochemical, Chemical, Plastics and Related Industries in S and SE Asia-
- Petrochemical and Chemical Industries;
- Plastic Resin Marketing, Compounding and Distribution;
- Plastics Processing & Fabrication;
- OEM Industries utilizing plastics materials.
The Group originally consisted of:
- Material Applications Pte Ltd - a company undertaking Technical Consulting, Technology Transfer and Market Research
- Chatsworth Hall Pte Ltd - an organiser of Specialised Training Courses; Workshops and Conferences
- Chatsworth Associates Pte Ltd - an Executive Search and Recruitment Company
In 2011 the functions of these companies were absorbed into Chatsworth Associates Pte Ltd. without any changes being made to the objectives of the services provided.

The Principals of the Group, have wide academic, consulting and industrial experience in the chemicals, petrochemicals, polymer, consumer electronics and advanced materials sectors, with a combined total of over 70 years; primarily within the Asia Pacific region. The Group prides itself in undertaking continuous investment in developing regional and global affiliations to better serve the needs of the client within Asia Pacific.

Phil Adams - Principal & Managing Director 
The Chatsworth Group is managed by CEO, Dr Philip Adams, who has over 40 years of experience within the plastics industry; with more than 35 of these being in Singapore. Since arriving in Singapore in 1975, where Dr Adams is presently a permanent resident, he has worked in a variety of senior management positions within such companies as GE Corporate Research and Development (GE USA Asia Co); the Dexter Corporation, Nypro Inc and UFE Inc, prior to establishing his own consulting and market research company “Material Applications Pte Ltd” in 1990.
Formerly holding an adjunct Associate Professorship at the Singapore Nanyang Technological University, Dr Adams main interests lie in plastics processing (injection moulding and compounding), high performance engineering thermoplastics / compounds and related applications.
Since earning a BSc degree in Plastics Technology from the Southbank Polytechnic in London, UK, and MSc and PhD degrees in Polymer Physics from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), UK, Dr Adams has been continuously engaged in a range of professional activities in the plastics industry in Asia. He was instrumental in setting up the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Singapore, serving as President for over 12 years. During his first tenure, he was a founder member of the ASEAN Countries Union of Polymer Science (serving as President for 1991-1993) and took the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Singapore into the Pacific Polymer Federation. For his services to the industry and the Institute, Dr Adams was awarded the Plastics and Rubber Institute's Meritorious Service Award in 1987 and received Honorary Fellowship of the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Singapore, in 1991. In 2000, he was elected Honorary Life Vice-President. In addition, Dr Adams is a Fellow of the Plastics and Rubber Institute of Malaysia and formerly a Senior Member of the Society of Plastics Engineers (USA); He is also a former Fellow of the Singapore National Institute of Chemistry; the Royal Society of Chemistry; and the Institute of Materials, Mining and Minerals .
Dr Adams is currently serving as a Member of the Advisory Committee for curriculum development in the Singapore Polytechnic School of Chemical and Life Sciences and was past-Chairman of the Chemical Standards Technical Committee on Rubber and Plastics, as well as past-Chairman of the Plastics Packaging Standards Committee. For his services to Singapore's Standardisation Programmes, Dr Adams was awarded the Certificate of Merit from the Standards Council in 1991 and their Distinguished Service Award in 1995.
He has authored numerous papers and given various presentations on the plastics industry in India and SE Asia, and acted as Chairman at various plastic-related conferences in the region. He is currently a Consultant / Associate of Plexium India, a company set up to organise specialised exhibitions and conferences in India.
